The next stages to this collection were to incorporate Elliott’s initial idea of ‘Beauty of the Orient’, through his illustrations.
When working on these sketches, he believes there is nothing better than drawing with a good old charcoal pencil on a suede finish paper. The pencil captures a real mood, be it in the lightness of compression to create a soft and feminine flow of the fabric, or with a harder press, to create a sharp tailored silhouette.
“The silhouette that I create directs my colour palette. I treat all collections as a process, giving equal attention to each stage of development” – Elliott James Frieze
